Ingredients
Step-by-Step
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Create a well in the center and pour in the warm water and vegetable oil.
Using a wooden spoon or your hands, mix the ingredients together until a shaggy dough forms.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.
Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and let it rest for 15 minutes.
Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and roll each piece into a ball. Using a rolling pin, roll each ball into a thin, round tortilla, about 6 inches in diameter.
Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Cook the tortillas, one at a time, for 30-60 seconds per side, or until lightly puffed and golden brown in spots.
Transfer the cooked tortillas to a clean kitchen towel or plate to keep them warm and pliable until ready to serve.
